What are Solar Sunscreens?

Solar sunscreens are durable, vinyl-coated fiberglass yarn shades woven in an open pattern. Solar screens block up to 70% of the sun's heat coming through windows, and are virtually invisible from the inside.

Unlike interior window treatments like drapes and blinds that block the sun's heat after it has entered the home, solar screens absorb and dissipate the sun's heat and glare before it reaches the window.

How do solar screens work?

The majority of sunlight striking an unprotected glass window passes through into the home, and a small percentage is reflected. Solar screens dramatically reduce the amount of sunlight striking the window. Most of the sun's heat is absorbed or reflected by the screen, or carried away by convective air currents created by the warm screen.

Easily installed on the outside of almost any window, sometimes using the frames of existing insect screens.
Work whether the window is open or closed.
Can be Removed in winter to let the sun shine in.
Can Reduce heat loss by reducing wind chill across the window's surface if left on during winter.

Provide insect protection when windows are open.
Do not crack, bubble, or streak windows because the screen does not come into contact with the glass.
May be Installed as shades inside the home (however, once inside, the screens lose the majority of their advantage-that is, to screen the sun before it enters the home).
